UCPH LOM Conference 2018

We look forward to once again welcome both researchers and research support staff at UCPH and external colleagues and collaborators, who work within lifestyle, obesity and metabolic research, to the annual UCPH LOM Conference.

The conference will take place in the new Maersk building at Panum on 6-7 June 2018.

It will be a major conference addressing the theme: Trends in excellent and interdisciplinary lifestyle, obesity and metabolic research

The aim is to provide a setting for UCPH researchers to showcase state of the art in their respective fields, to set the stage for network activities within and across disciplines and to invite some of the leading international experts in the field(s) to share their insights.

The conference will include a morning sesison on 6 June, dedicated to young researchers, which will include scientific presentations from the young investigators. Information about the call for abstracts will be announced on this page soon.

Day 1 of the main conference will begin on 6 June at 2pm(14:00) with a Symposium on 'Obesity Theories', where 4 international speakers have already been confirmed:

  • Kevin HallSection Chief, Integrative Physiology Section, Laboratory of Biological Modeling, NIDDK (Nationale Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney diseases), USA
  • John R. SpeakmanProfessor at the Institute of Biological and Environmental Sciences, chair in Zoology, University of Aberdeen, Scotland
  • David B. Allison (on video), Provost Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Dean and Provost Professor of School of Public Health-Bloomington, USA
  • Stanley UlijaszekProfessor of Human Ecology at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthopology, Oxford university. Affiliate professor at CoRe, University of Copenhagen.

Day 2 of the conference will comprise 4 keynote lectures, parallel sessions and panel debate with the keynote speakers. Confirmed Keynote speakers are:

  • Giles Yeo, Principal Research Associate, Director of Genomics/Transcriptomics, Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Cambridge.
  • David James, Professor, School of Life & Environmental Sciences and Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney.
  • Sonja Kahlmeier, University of Zürich, Group leader of EBPI(Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention), Head of the Unit on Physical Activity and Health.
  • Paul Bissell, Professor,  Dean of the School of Human and Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield.
